We start by sourcing the juiciest and most delectable organic dried wild blueberries the Northeast has to offer. Add those to a divine blend of maple-candied almonds + Korintje Cinnamon. We then layer in a mixture of non-GMO butter, coconut oil and the perfect sprinkling of sea salt. We mix it all together, slowly, with gluten free thick rolled oats and organic chia seeds. Then slow-baked to greatness. Wild Blueberry + Cinnamon Almond will have you singing the chews!

Best granola and bars ever!

I love all the Granola ,but the Blueberry cinnamon almond is my favorite. Our go to bars are pb chocolate with butterscotch
and the caramel pecan with cranberries. They’ve always sold out here in Durango, so I ordered them online now.

SNACKS, ANOTHER WAY.

Finding Something That Tastes Good *And* That’s Good For You Can Feel Like An Impossible Choice.

That’s where Taos Bakes comes in. We’re obsessed with great taste, the kind that you can see, smell, and feel. Our snacks (not to be confused with those lumpy cardboard-tasting bars you may have run into) live at the intersection of people, process, and food.

We’re here to shift the conversation from over-analyzing nutritional facts and health claims to celebrating and upholding taste as the most important aspect of any culinary experience…from a quick snack to fuel your next meeting, workout, or school, all the way to enjoying a five-course meal or a perfectly designed craft beer.

  • Are Taos Bakes gluten-free?

Yes, all of our snacks are gluten-free.

A small selection of Taos Bakes products contain oats from an oat supplier that are certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Certification Program and tested using the R5 ELISA method to verify that all product is below 10ppm gluten. We require a certificate confirming that information for every shipment that we receive before starting production.

You will find gluten-free oats in both varieties of Trailblazer Granola and Almond Agave + Cinnamon & Gingersnap + Pecan Bakes.

  • Are Taos Bakes products kosher?

No - at this time Taos Bakes products are not certified kosher.

  • Do you use filler ingredients like soy, corn, or rice puffs?

Nope. We believe that great snacks don’t need fillers like soy, corn, or rice puffs at the top of their ingredient list.

Some companies choose fillers as a way to increase their profits, even using fancy sounding ones like chicory root fiber. This is a good way to cut costs, but it doesn't make for a great tasting snack.

Our pledge to our customers is to always put you first, and ensure that your "eater experience" includes a delightful taste, texture, and smell.

  • Do you list all of your ingredients on the package?

Yep. Every Taos Bakes product features a few simple ingredients, which we taste test obsessively. If it’s not listed on the package, it’s not in our snacks.

  • Are your products organic and/or made with organic ingredients?

Yes, many (but not all) of our ingredients are organic.

For example, the Toasted Coconut + Vanilla Bean bar is about ⅓ organic ingredients (37.5% to be exact), and a few other bars are made up of mostly organic ingredients.

We actively work to source organic ingredients as often as possible, but not everything is available at the quality level (taste, texture, smell, etc) we need.

For example, the vanilla bean currently used in Toasted Coconut + Vanilla Bean isn't organic (though, it IS surprisingly expensive)... but on the other hand it is by far the most delicious thing we've tested and a big reason that bar tastes so darn good.

  • What’s your approach to GMO vs. non-GMO ingredients?

Rule number one at Taos Bakes is to always deliver an amazing "eater experience." You should never have to walk away from a snack with a tired jaw or in need of a glass of milk to clean your mouth out.

We’ve chosen to source non-GMO ingredients, and all of our products are certified non-GMO, as part of our mission to focus on delivering clean, all-natural snacks with a unique flavor, taste, and texture.

  • How do you choose the ingredients in your snacks?

Each of our snacks features a few simple ingredients.

We look for the perfect mix of natural flavors and raw ingredients, like ground vanilla bean, almonds, and coconut in our Toasted Coconut + Vanilla Bean.

Each ingredient is carefully selected and tested in our production facility, where we ensure  consistently amazing taste, texture, and smell. And, we don’t just check once and leave things on auto-pilot. We’re constantly refining our recipes and each step of the production process in our production facility in Northern New Mexico.

  • What do you mean when you say Taos Bakes focuses on simple, healthy ingredients?

We believe in telling it like it is. The no fat, no carbohydrate, no calorie, no sugar diets out there have created a world where people are afraid of their food. It’s time to change that.

The problem isn’t sugars and fats. The problem is over processed food, packed with junk instead of clean, healthy energy made from simple ingredients. If you’re anything like us, you’re probably tired of natural foods companies pretending that you can survive and/or be happy on a no sugar, no fat, no carbohydrate, no anything diet.

  • How much caffeine does the Piñon Coffee with Dark Chocolate bar contain?

Piñon Coffee with Dark Chocolate has around 30 milligrams of caffeine.

All caffeine comes from the coffee used to make it (rather than being manufactured and added after), and compares to the 95-200 mg of caffeine you'd find in a typical cup of coffee.

  • What procedures do you have in place to ensure food safety?

We follow all local, state, and federal regulations in addition to conducting internal quality control checks, and are compliant with U.S. Food & Drug Administration requirements that all products be produced in a sanitary facility and honestly labeled.

Our staff take great care when handling ingredient and mixing, baking, and packaging each bake. We also operate out of a state-of-the art solar powered production facility in Questa, New Mexico, and are dedicated to having a positive impact on the environment.

  • Do you offer discounts, promotions, or coupons?

We occasionally provide limited time offers and discount codes for our online shop when promoting Taos Bakes products. When available, these can only be used one at a time i.e. multiple discount codes can't be applied to the same order.

The best way to stay in the know is by subscribing to our Taos Bakes email newsletter, where we share the latest info from inside #TeamTaos.

  • What materials are in your packaging? Are they recycled and/or recyclable?

We are always working to become more sustainable and have a positive impact on our planet.

Currently, our individual bake packages do include a thin layer of plastic for freshness that is non-recyclable. Boxes, paper goods, and other shipping materials are made from recycled paperboard and can be recycled, and we will continue pushing to add to that list.

We are proud to say that all of our snacks are made in a solar-powered production facility in Northern New Mexico, and we are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint to better support the earth.

  • What’s the shelf life of Taos Bakes products? Is there an expiration date?

The shelf life of our Bars and Bites is 12 months from the date they are made. You can always look for the "best by date" which is 1 year from the date stamped on the back of each package.

Trailblazer Granola has a shelf life of 9 months.

CosmoNuts have a shelf life of 12 months.

We pride ourselves on shipping out the freshest product possible, so when you order online or find our product in the store, it's usually been baked fresh in our facility not long before.

  • Where are Taos Bakes products made?

We self-manufacture all of our snacks in a 10,000 square foot, solar-powered production facility in Questa, located about 25 minutes of Taos in Northern New Mexico.

Our production facility is also home to our amazing sales and back office teams, so we're all working under the same roof to deliver the delicious snacks you know and love!

  • What’s the story behind Taos Bakes?

We’ve been working at this for a while. It all started around 2010, when co-founders Kyle and Brooks got tired of choking down the cardboard that passed for energy bars, and decided to make a healthy, no-nonsense snack that both tasted good AND powered their various adventures.

Unlike those Companies Who Shall Not Be Named that smash together ingredients and squeeze them out of a tube into a lifeless lump, each of our bars has a unique flavor, taste, and texture with ingredients that are carefully selected, mixed, and baked—hence the word “Bakes” in our name.

We’ve also dialed in our mission of positively impacting our home state of New Mexico with jobs that pay a living wage, and looking carefully at our supply chain and what it means well beyond the region. It’s the right thing to do and it’s a crucial part of our DNA.

While it all started with adventure (loyal customers will remember the days of “Taos Mountain Energy Bars”), we’ve grown with the help of an amazing community and built long-lasting relationships along the way.

Read the rest of our story

  • What the heck is a “bake” anyway?

Most companies that make snack/energy bars mash together a bunch of ingredients and squeeze them out of a tube into a lifeless lump, in a process called cold extrusion. Pretty gross, huh?

At Taos Bakes, each of our bars is crafted in our production facility in Northern New Mexico. We never use cold-extrusion. Instead, we focus on creating a unique flavor, taste, and texture with ingredients that are carefully selected, mixed, and baked—hence the word “Bakes” in our name—before cutting individual bars, and then boxing and shipping them.

  • Where does the name "Taos Bakes" come from?

Simply put, all of our snacks contain ingredients that are carefully mixed and baked, not blended up and cold-pressed into a tasteless lump.

We want our customers to know what we’re all about. Delicious, baked from scratch snacks is pretty much our thing, so combine that with the amazing little Northern New Mexico town that’s been a key part of our journey... and you get “Taos Bakes.”

  • Where do the characters on your packaging, boxes, etc. come from?

From the very start, customer feedback has been a major part of our journey. The relationships we’ve built over the last decade have guided the food we create, our supply chain choices, and the work we do to improve the economic development of our home state of New Mexico.

We wanted a branding approach that reflected the wide range of customers that are passionate about our products. Outdoor adventurers, moms on the go, city folks on their work commute, artists and writers fueling their daily inspirations, and more. Putting the people that matter to us on the packaging just made sense, a constant and welcome reminder to help us stay focused on the relationship with our customers.

  • How did you come up with “T is for Taste” and your logo?

With each of our snack bars, everything starts with Taste, with a capital T. We believe that above all else, a great snack should be the part of your day that you look forward to.

As we built our branding, we wanted to feature that T front and center, as a constant reminder not just for our customers but forourselves that the mission of amazing taste is important. We also used character art work and illustration to connect the idea of T is for Taste to our community of customers.
