It took us months to scout and source the highest quality ingredients, bringing you the flavor you deserve. Some companies lead with cost; we lead with Taste. We obsess over every detail, like skipping vanilla extract and using ground vanilla bean powder instead. (Which by the way, costs over $300 a pound!)
It takes significantly longer than the process most companies use, but we cut out each snack and bake them in an oven, giving you a texture and experience you’ll actually enjoy more than once. Real bakers are behind your bars, so you get real flavor as a result.
From the marketing team to our professionals on the production floor, we pay fair, above-average wages that create stability, and opportunities for our people to grow. Taos has created over 60 stable careers in Questa, New Mexico.
Usually 8-10 ingredients per bar, with a recipe that starts with real ingredients like pecans and pine nuts, not fillers.
Each of our employees makes substantially more compared to the average employee in a similar industry in Questa, New Mexico.
From the beginning, we knew we wanted to do things differently, so we created custom equipment to produce our snacks. We try to cover about $0.60 for each box sold.
All of our boxes and shipping materials are made from recycled paperboard, and you guessed it—recyclable.
Most companies won’t say it outright, but this often sinks folks in our industry. Each time you cover shipping cost, we have $6-10 that goes back to creating delicious flavor profiles for you.
Most energy bar companies start with a filler, then mark their prices up 8-10x. Taos Bakes doesn’t use a single filler, and we mark our snacks up 1.5x.
Now is the time to infuse generosity into our business model. We won’t wait until it’s too late, and are committed to making this part of Taos culture as we scale. We’ve supported several organizations out of New Mexico for a long time, and now we’ll give back in a more official capacity, on a regular basis.
Companies that are B-Corp certified are recognized as the highest standard of ethical practices that affect both people and the environment. We’ve had our eye on this for a while, and since 2011, have been working out of a 100% solar powered production facility.
Our founders know many of our farmers and producers on a first name basis, and as we grow, we will be strengthening these relationships. Taos Bakes is proud of our regional agriculture community, and we hope to bring food sourcing to the forefront of the conversation.
With every new flavor we create from here forward, we are actively pursuing a higher level of stewardship in other areas. You can feel confident in choosing Taos Bakes, with every bite you take.
